Becoming an Affiliate the Right Program
By: Penelope Housden

Being an affiliate marketer is a great way to make money. Let?s be clear about that from the beginning. The thrill of getting that first sale is a real boost to the ego and a fantastic feeling! You know you?ve started on that exciting road to a very profitable future, and that all the things you have put into place for your success are coming to fruition.

There are millions of ways of making money on the internet, but choosing to join an affiliate program is a sensible method if you?re a beginning entrepreneur and are still exploring all the possibilities that running an online business has to offer. It means that you don?t have to have your own product to sell ? you can sell someone else?s and eliminate all the hassles associated with producing a commodity, with not even delivery to the customer to consider: the company you?re affiliated to will do all that for you.

However, becoming an affiliate does carry with it some responsibilities. First of all, you naturally want to be successful at it ? and generally that means hugely successful, hopefully. After all, you don?t want to make tremendous efforts with marketing and promotion to make only a few sporadic sales do you? The aim is to generate large profits, and create much passive income from ? eventually ? not having to do too much work for it. Therefore, it is in your interests to choose carefully those businesses and products with which you align and affiliate yourself.

For instance, it is to your advantage to market and sell a product you have a passion for ? if you believe in the product, perhaps even use it yourself, then it will be far easier to convince others of its merits, and thereby attract sales (and so affiliate commissions) quicker and in greater quantity. Having enthusiasm for your product conveys itself in the adverts, information and wording you give out, and is likewise more likely to induce the same feeling in your potential customer, with the result of more sales.

Not only that, but you want to find affiliate products that sell for a reasonable amount of money. A 50 per cent commission on something that sells for $25 will obviously not earn you as much as a product selling for $200, and you will have to make many more sales to reach a credible income!

One way to find an affiliate program to join is to do a search with any of the search engines such as Google or Yahoo ? just type in ?affiliate? or ?affiliate program? and see what comes up. Another method is by going to the website of such companies as Clickbank, and click on their ?promote products? list. There you will find a whole range of affiliate programs to join on all sorts of subjects which may interest you. Good luck!
